Take this amazing opportunity to hear from professionals on the inside of granting bodies including London Arts Council, Factor, Ontario Creates and Ontario Arts Council Music Program. Find out how to improve your chances and seize the opportunity to pose your questions directly to the people who are most involved in the decision-making process. They have funds that they need to distribute, and you have projects that need to be funded. Learn how to increase your success in making that match.

Rebekah Morrison-Wize, London Arts Council

Rebekah Morrison-Wize, since returning to her hometown of London in 2003, has dedicated herself to the London arts community within her position as Development Officer, Investments with the London Arts Council. Rebekah holds a BFA Honours Degree in Dance from York University. Living 20 years in Toronto, Rebekah worked with the Dancer Transition Resource Centre, Canada’s National Ballet School and Canadian Stage Theatre Company. Rebekah manages the Community Arts Investment Program and is responsible for pursuing and securing all of LAC’s project, program and operational investments through grant applications, corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations and community partnerships.

Aisha Wickham, Ontario Creates

Aisha’s career has been focused on developing and promoting Canada’s music industry. She is currently a Program Consultant for the Ontario Music Office at Ontario Creates (formerly known as the Ontario Media Development Corporation).

Previous roles include senior management positions with Toronto radio stations FLOW 93.5 and G98.7 FM; Nia Centre for the Arts; the Urban Music Association of Canada; and the Canadian Independent Recording Artists’ Association of Canada. She also ran her own communications consulting practice, ngoma productions, specializing in project management, marketing strategy, business plan development and writing services for the music and broadcasting sectors.

Aisha has served on numerous Boards and Committees, including the Toronto Arts Council Music Committee, the National Advisory Board for the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), the Ryerson University Alumni Association, and the Community Engagement Council for the Toronto 2015 PanAm/ParapanAm Games. Aisha is the recipient of the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment Award for Behind the Scenes Executive of the Year, the Canadian New Media Award for Outstanding Young Woman and the Harry Jerome Award for leadership.  She holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson University.

 

 

 

Jessica Deljouravesh, Ontario Arts Council Music Program

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) provides grants to Ontario-based individual artists and arts professionals, ad hoc groups/collectives and organizations. Grants support a range of arts activities and disciplines. Jessica Deljouravesh has worked at OAC since 2007. During this time, Jessica has administered various granting programs in arts disciplines including, music, theatre, multi and inter-arts and multi-disciplinary, supporting a range of activity including creation, recording, production, touring, market development and organizational development.

Jessica holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Ottawa, and has sung and played viola in jazz and classical styles.
